Blackjack pays the player 3:2
Insurance pays 2:1: If the dealer is showing an Ace and you want to insure your Blackjack hand, you can place up to ½ of your original bet to secure your bet. If the dealer gets Blackjack, your original bet is lost to the house, however, the insurance pays 2:1 and guarantees you will break even on the hand. If both the dealer and the player show Blackjack without insurance, it is called tie and no one wins. If the dealer does not get Blackjack, the insurance bet is lost.
If the dealer has A, K, Q, J or 10 and you think that your first two cards will not allow you to beat the dealer's hand, you can choose to surrender your hand. If you surrender, your hand automatically loses, but you get half of your original bet back. This way you do not lose the whole bet. Surrender is possible only as a first action. If you make any further action (hit, stand, split, insurance, double) after you get first two cards then surrender is not available any more.
